Former Cranes coach Sam Ssimbwa Bamweyana has been announced as the replacement for the departed Jimmy Kintu Mwera who was releaved of his duties as URA FC head coach last week.

Ssimbwa’s main task will be steering the club back to normalcy after only managing to register just one win in their opening six league matches, leaving them as one of the basement sides on the table despite being one of the busiest teams in the recently concluded transfer market.

Ssimbwa, who has been unemployed since the expiry of his contract with FUFA as Paul Put’s assistant in November last year, will tentatively run on a two year is expected to come along with his technical supporting team.

Ssimbwa coached URA FC between 2018 and 2021, where he narrowly missed out on guiding the club to the 2020/21 league title after they finished second to Express FC.

He has also previously served at Express FC where he won the 2011/12 title, KCCA FC, SC Villa, Kitara FC, Tusker FC, Mbale Heroes, Simba SC, Masaka FC, defunct SC Victoria University, and Sofapaka among others.

The tax collectors are currently 15th on the Uganda Premier League table with just four points garnered in six games.
