NEC FC thrashed Ntugasaze FC 5-1 in their league meeting on Tuesday at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The Diehards, who suffered a 2-1 defeat in their previous game against BUL FC, needed a response against Ntugasaze.
The visitors took an early lead through Jeremy Otim’s strike in the fourth minute.
In the 18th minute, Ibrahim Musa restored parity for the home side off a rebound after Richard Basangwa’s effort had been saved.
Basangwa then set up James Jarieko three minutes to halftime to give Badru Kaddu’s men the lead.
Kaddu introduced Fahad Bayo, Emmanuel Kulanga and Marvin Oshaba at the hour mark, replacing Basangwa, Kagawa and Daniel Shabene.
Bayo, who had just come on, got his name on the scoresheet when he headed home Ibrahim Musa’s perfect cross to give NEC a comfortable lead.
Jarieko completed his brace in the 73rd minute before Oshaba, another substitute, sealed the victory with the fifth goal for the hosts.
NEC remain in third place with 17 points, two behind leaders BUL FC, who host Entebbe UPPC on Saturday. Ntugasaze remain in the drop zone in 16th position on three points.
