Ithungu Ronitah (62 not out) scored the 1st half century of the tournament, her unbeaten half century helped Kasese SS to spring up the 1st surprise of the tournament defeating Ndejje SS by 20 runs. The team making their debut in the girls’ schools cricket week were not afraid against seasoned Ndejje SS. Unfortunately they were unable to carry that momentum into the afternoon where they lost to fellow debutants Mukono Kings High School by 9 wickets.
Defending Champions Olila High School had a scare against Jinja SSS but eventually prevailed by 5 wickets in the low scoring game.
Last year’s finalists Light SS came through unscathed on day winning both their games against Ndejje SS and Mukono Kings. Light SS leading the way in Group B and wearing the favorites tag in a group they are expected to top.
Mukono Kings were dominant against fellow debutants Kasese SS in the afternoon winning by 9 wickets.
Masaka SS was pushed by debutants Masindi SS but they came through to win by 20 runs in the afternoon as they warm up with a win in a very tough group A.
