Uganda Cranes will kickoff their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a Group G contest against Guinea on Friday.

Guinea who don’t have a stadium that meets CAF requirements will host the fixture at Stade Du Municipal in Berkane.

This will be Paul Put’s first game as Uganda Cranes head coach since taking over helms from Milutin Sredojevic alias Micho.

The Belgian will be hoping to start his tenure as Cranes head coach on a positive note.

“We have tried to achieve a lot of things in the limited time I have been with the team and I’m impressed with the attitude and discipline of the players.”

“A committed group works together and I believe will portrayed on the pitch for us to get a good result.”

“I know they have a good team with quality players some and majority player in Europe but I have the trust in my players to pull off a great performance.” Said Put.

Uganda’s opponents Guinea are under the stewardship of Kaba Diawara who guided them to the 2023 AFCON Finals due in Senegal next year.

Just like Uganda, Guinea have never qualified for the global showpiece.

The 1976 AFCON runners up will have their hopes in Stuttgart’s in form forward Serhou Guirassy.

Guinea are ranked 80th in FIFA Rankings while Uganda is 90th.
