2019 AFCON runners up Sengal will be playing against Cape Verde in the round of 16 game on Tuesday 25th at the Kouekong Stadium.

The Lions of Teranga were dubbed as one of the pre tournament favourite teams but have seemingly been unconvincing on the pitch in their three group games.

Senegal head into Tuesday’s encounter with all of weight on their shoulders despite being unbeaten from the group stage winning once drawing twice.

There has been a goal drought in the Senegal team as they have only scored one goal which was a late penalty by Sadio mane in the hard fought win over Zimbabwe.

Their opponents Cape Verde finished third in their group having managed to obtain four points from three matches which were enough to see them off to the round of 16 of the tournament for the second time.

Cape Verde’s only win came against man Ethiopia in the opener, they lost to Burkina Faso and drew 1-1 with Cameroon.

Senegal were boosted by the return of FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper Eduard Mendy and skipper Kalidou Koulibaly to the starting line-up having missed the opening games due to COVID-19.
