Egyptian Premier League side Arab Contractors have confirmed that left back Joseph Ochaya will be part of the Uganda Cranes squad that will face Tanzania in the upcoming AFCON Qualifiers later this month.

Ochaya will be making a return to the national team squad after a period of close to two years.

His last appearance dates back to September 2021 as Uganda drew goalless with Mali in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Kitende.

The lanky left back has been in fine form since joining Arab Contractors from TP Mazembe.

He is the highest scoring defender in the Egyptian Premier League with five goals and two assists in the 18 games he has played.

In Ochaya’s absence, coach Milutin Srjedojevic Micho has relied on Isaac Muleme and Aziz Kayondo in the left back position.

Uganda will be facing off with neighbors Tanzania in a crucial double header in the last week of this month.

The first game is slated to take place in Ismailia at the Suez Canal Stadium while the second one will be played held in Dar es Salaam.
