The best ever finish for a Ugandan U-20 National team side was reaching the 1999 semifinal.

Ironically, currently Hippos head coach Morley Byekwaso played in the 1999 team.

Against Ghana, the Uganda Hippos will be seeking revenge having lost 2-0 in the final of the AFCON U-20 in Mauritania, three years ago.

Byekwaso’s charges have a 100% record having won four of the games they have played and are the top scorers in the tournament with eight goals.

Bruno Bunyaga x2, Abasi Kyeyune, Hakim Mutebi, Usama Arafat, Ivan Irinimbabazi, Allan Oyirwoth and Apollo Kagogwe are the scorers of the eight goals for Uganda at the tournament.

Ghana under the stewardship of Desmond Sakyi Ofei are also still unbeaten in the competition winning three and drawn once.

The West African nation has previously won gold at the event in 2011 and also has two bronze medals (1978 and 2003).
