AIRTEL MASAZA CUP: Buddu, Kyaggwe, Mawokota progress into the quarterfinals

The 2022 Airtel Masaza Cup group stage climaxed on Sunday with nine games played simultaneously at various playgrounds.

In Masengere Group, Buddu beat Mawogola 3-0 at Mawogola playground, courtesy of a brace from Bruno Bunyaga and Reagan Kimera strike.

Victory saw, Buddu join Masengere Group leaders Ssingo who beat Kyadondo in their final group game. Amuli Mukasa and Ssemanda Godfrey scored for Ssingo.

Mawokota needed Mayanja Abubaker and Lwanyaga Richard goals to beat Kooki 2-0 in Bulange Group. The three time competition champions progressed to the quarterfinals as one of the two third best placed teams.

Buwekula finished top of Bulange group after coming from a goal down to beat Butambala 2-1 at Kasenyi Playground. Shafic Kakande and Sharafah Mukiibi scored for Buwekula while Hassan Mubiru scored Butambala’s only goal.

In Muganzirwaza Group, Busiro beat Bulemeezi 1-0 thanks to a Kasenge Ibrahim sole goal. During the same game, they paid tribute to their player Odong Derrick who passed on last week.

Still in the same Group, Kyaggwe beat Bugerere 1-0 to seal a place into the last eight.

Meanwhile, the Quarterfinal draw is scheduled for Wednesday, 7th September at Bulange Mengo.
