Airtel Masaza Cup: Busiro edge Gomba as Buddu beat Mawokota to take slim quarterfinal advantage

Busiro Ssaza team stunned record Champions Gomba 2-1 at Kabulasoke Playground in the first leg of the the 2022 Masaza Cup.

Isaac Ofoyrwoth and Yuda Ddumba first half goals were enough to inspire Simon Peter Mugerwa’s charges a slim quarterfinal advantage over five time winners Gomba.

Raymond Othieno pulled one back for Gomba in the second period of the entertaining contest at Kabulasoke.

At Masaka Recreation ground, defending champions Buddu needed Bruno Bunyaga’s second half goal to beat three time winners Mawokota.

Ronald Kaye scored the all important goal as Bulemeezi edged 2021 runners up Buwekula at Kasana playground in Luweero.

Meanwhile, two time competition winners Ssingo beat Kyaggwe 1-0 courtesy of a Joseph Ssewali second half goal.

The second legs will be played on 25th September with the aggregate winners prevailing to the semifinals.
