In 2017, Ddungu guided his beleaguered Gomba troops to the Masaza Cup glory as they edged Ssingo 1-0 courtesy of a Nicolas Kabonge strike in the epic final that was played at Uganda’s Football cathedral Mandela National Stadium.

He has also previously managed at Busiro United in the Buganda Region and Uganda Martyrs University in the University Football League.

Buwekula have never won the competition and their greatest achievement was finishing as runners up to Bulemeezi during the 2012 edition.
