Absa Bank realized the usage of cards was going up daily and there was a need for customers to be safe. In December 2021, the bank launched the Card Assist Campaign across the African Continent.

This was aimed at encouraging its customers to make more transactions with their cards as well as keeping them safe from COVID-19 since the cards are contactless because they would not get in touch with anyone physically. At the end of the campaign, the customer who had made the most transactions using their contactless card was to win a VIP Premier League experience to watch a football match and also get to interact with one of the African football Legends Jay-jay Okocha.

On Saturday 23rd, April , Jerome Juuko who had the highest card transactions throughout the campaign period in Uganda and his good friends were treated to a VIP treatment. They watched one of highly anticipated matches in the English Premier League between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

At the end of the match, Juuko was awarded a SONY TV and soundbar as well as another hamper for predicting the correct score between the two English sides.

“I have been a customer with ABSA Bank Uganda for one and half year. I thank them for treating me and the selected friends to a VIP treatment. I am delighted to have won big after predicting the correct score in the game between Arsenal and Man United.”

Other invited guests also walked away with lots of other prizes and also virtually interacted with African great Jay Jay Okocha.

Samuel Kiyaga, Head of Alternate Channels Absa Bank Uganda officially hands over prizes to Mr. Jerome Juuko. This campaign was aimed at encouraging Absa customers to transact more using their contactless Absa cards to stand a chance to win a VIP Premier League experience.
