Tanzanian champions Young Africans will play in the semi finals of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in history.

Yanga eliminated Nigeria’s Rivers United 2-0 on aggregate in the quarter-finals thanks to a Fiston Mayele brace in the first leg in Nigeria.

The second leg ended goalless last night at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Yanga, home of Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho, will face Ismail Watenga’s Marumo Gallants in the semi finals.

Marumo Gallants eliminated Egyptian giants Pyramids FC 2-1 on aggregate. The first leg in Cairo ended 1-1 before Gallants won the return leg 1-0 last night.

The tie therefore guarantees a berth in the final for either Watenga or Aucho.

The other semi final will be between Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas and Algeria’s US Alger.

ASEC Mimosas beat Tunisia’s US Monastir 2-1 on aggregate while US Alger ejected Morocco’s AS FAR 4-3 after the two legs.

The first leg of the semi finals will be played on May 10th while the second legs are scheduled for May 17th.
