Bernard Muwanga is also captain for the Cranes chan set up.

Record league champions SC Villa have appointed Bernard Muwanga the new Captain of the club for the 2017/18 season.

Muwanga becomes the 5th SC Villa captain in a space of of 4 years after the exit of predecessor Taddeo Lwanga switching posts to Vipers SC. He is also the captain for the national team of the local based players. Muwanga has served before as assistant captain at SC Villa when he deputised Mike Sserumaga in the 2015/16 season.

The former Bright stars captain asserts that he is ready to steer the club back to the summit of Ugandan football. He says,

” I’m delighted and honoured for I have been named captain of this great Club, I hope to lead by example and take responsibility of being the link between the management and fellow players. I aspire to work hard and go down in history as one the greatest Captains to lead this great team.”

When asked to name a few players who he thinks will be key in SC Villa’s title challenge. He added,

” The team has not been built on any individuals and we hope to work collectively as a team but of course the team has made some key signings like Mahad Yaya Kakooza, Simon Sserunkuuma, Mukasa Musa and Allan Kyambadde. These will be very instrumental in our title challenge. “

Muwanga will follow in the foot steps off former SC Villa captains like Paul Hasule, Edgar Watson, Major Musisi, Jonathan Mugabi, Isaac Kirabira, Mike Serumaga and Taddeo Lwanga
