BIKA BYA’BAGANDA: Teams to be facilitated with 1M shs each

The Buganda Kingdom Minister in charge of Sports, Youth and Art Owek. Robert Serwanga has promised financial support to all the clans that will take part in the 50th edition of the Bika Byabaganda Football and Netball tournaments.

The minister made the remarks in a meeting held at Bulange Mengo on Wednesday 17th April with the Bika Byabaganda team managers.

“We are going to give one million Uganda shillings to every clan that will register to take part in this year’s tournament and we also plan to award the best individual performers as well the champions”.

“I kindly request all of you to give support to our respective clans, we can also use them these games to teach the norms to the youngsters.”

Owek. Serwanga asked the clan heads to avoid the use of ineligible players for proper organisation and transparency of the tournament.

“Let us avoid the use of ineligible players, it will never develop the game. Clan heads should check with the ministry, we have records for players and their clans, those who took part in the Ggombolola tournaments and Buganda Schools Sports Competitions.

Hajji Salim’s Magala the chairman Bika Byabaganda Football and Netball Committee (BIFONEC) called upon Kabaka’s subjects to come in large numbers to support their clans,

“The turn up shows how clans have been eagerly waiting for the kick off, we are set and ready to go so I call upon Kabaka’s subjects to come and witness the historical tournament (Bika @50)”

Netball will kick off on Saturday 20th April at St.Lawrcence University with Butiiko playing against Mamba Namakaka.

On 27th April Mamba Namakaka will face off with Butiko in the football opener.
