Bright Stars condemn relegation bound Tooro to 19th loss of the season

Tooro United 1-2 Soltilo Bright Stars

Soltilo Bright Stars earned a much needed 2-1 win over bottom placed Tooro United at Buhinga to keep their survival hopes alive.

Striker Emmanuel Loki and make shift left back Derrick Ngobi scored the two goals for the Paul Kiwanuka coached side.

Loki opened the scores as early as the 10th minute when he headed home perfectly from a nice cross by right back Jonathan Odongo.

Six minutes later, Ngobi doubled the lead with a finish from a Yasin Mugume cross.

Ngobi almost grabbed a brace after finishing off from an Ibrahim Kasinde ball at the hour mark but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The home side were handed a chance to redeem themselves through a penalty after Isaac Mpagi was fouled in the area in the 79th minute.

Skipper Apollo Kagogwe was entrusted with the responsibility to convert and he flawlessly pulled one back.

Tooro kept on pushing for a would be equalizer but failed to hit target as the clock ticked towards the 90th minute mark.

The defeat was Tooro’s 19th of the season and keeps the club just a point away from automatic relegation back to the Big League.

They currently have 10 points and have to win all their remaining games which clearly looks impossible to achieve.

Bright Stars are 14th with 24 points from 24 games. They are level on points with Police who have played a game more.

Next on card; Tooro will visit UPDF on Tuesday 19th April while Bright Stars will battle with Wakiso Giants a day after.
