KCCA FC literally hung their title fight up by allowing leaders Vipers SC to beat them in an entertaining encounter at Lugogo.
The visitors fought from a goal down to clinch an important 2-1 victory that stretched their lead to 12 points with 6 games left to play for both teams.
Tactician Morley Byekwaso however raised some eyebrows with his admission that the title quest might have been over last evening.
“I think with today’s result, we need to continue pushing hard for a better finish on the table”.
“Last season, we finished 4th and we have to show that we are progressing by fighting for second place”.
KCCA were frontrunners to win the league by mid term thanks to their good form and an impeccable home record but Vipers beat them at their own ground.
Byekwaso also blamed his attackers for not putting away some of the opportunities that would have consolidated their lead and he pointed out Sadat Anaku in particular.
“We were a little wasteful with the chances we got. This was a high tension game that needed sharp shooters who take their opportunities. For example in the first period, Anaku wasted a glorious chance when put though on goal but he chose to take too many touches on the ball instead of shooting immediately ”
“Vipers got 3 chances and scored two”
He added while addressing a post match press briefing
KCCA will next visit BUL FC on 20th April.
They currently sit second on the log with 46 points, 2 above 3rd placed BUL, their next opponents.
