The Confederation of African Football has given a greenlight to St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende to host the World Cup qualifiers.

The development was confirmed on Monday when CAF approved Stadiums that will host the 2022 World Cup qualification games.

Following the approval, Uganda will now be able to use the venue to host games for their World Cup qualification campaign.

There were fears that the Uganda National team will host games on a neutral venue with the State Minister for Sports Hamson Obua revealing last month that Kitende is ineligible to host World Cup qualification games.

For starters, Uganda used Kitende as their home venue for two of their unsuccessful Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after Namboole was made a Covid-19 centre.

Uganda is in Group E of the qualifiers alongside Mali, Rwanda and Kenya.

The Cranes will first travel to neighbours Kenya in their first game at Nyayo International game on June 8th before hosting Mali on June 12th.
