CAF CL : Al Ahly, Wydad claim first leg advantage

Denis Masinde Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns lost 2-0 to Al Ahly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter final on Saturday evening in Cairo.

Tunisian left back Ali Maaloul scored two second half goals to ensure a first leg advantage for Al Ahly.

Maaloul beat Onyango from close range in the 56th minute before converting a penalty 11 minutes later.

The other quarter final played on the evening saw Wydad Casablanca defeat Etoile du Sahel 2-0 at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

Mohammed Nahiri scored a goal in each half to ensure a deserved victory for the Moroccan champions.

The return leg matches of the particular fixtures will be played next week on Saturday.

The quarter finals played on Friday saw Raja Casablanca beat TP Mazembe 2-0 while Zamalek defeated Esperance 3-1 in Cairo.
