CAF confirms Uganda will play South Africa in 3rd round of U20 Women’s World Cup qualification

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the pairings for the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

In a statement released via, CAF confirmed the changes in the fixtures of the third round of the qualification process.

” Please find below corrected third round FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022™ Africa fixtures scheduled for next December 2021.”

“Previously, the system erroneously published a few incorrect fixtures. This has since been rectified.” Read part of the statement.

Initially, Uganda was scheduled to face South Africa but last week, fixtures released had paired Uganda with Botswana instead.

It has now been confirmed that Uganda will take on South Africa in the third round.

The first leg will take place between 2nd-4th December in Uganda while the return leg will take place from 16th-18th December in South Africa.

Uganda beat Kenya 10-3 on aggregate to qualify for this stage while South Africa overcame their COSAFA counterparts Mozambique 4-2 on aggregate.

The third round will have 16 teams which will be vying for the available two slots designated for Africa in the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

If the Ayub Khalifa coached team progress to the 4th round, they will be facing the winners between Zambia and Ghana.
