The final of the CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in CECAFA Region will be between CBE FC of Ethiopia and Tanzania’s JKT Queens.

This follows respective wins for both sides in the semi finals played on Sunday afternoon at Njeru.

CBE FC rallied from a goal down to win 2-1 against Kenya’s Vihiga Queens after extra time.

Vihiga Queens will have themselves to blame after being extremely wasteful on the day.

Bertha Omita gave the Kenyan champions the lead in the 65th minute but Loza Abera Geinore inspired a comeback for the Ethiopians with a late equalizer in the additional minutes.

Minutes before the equalizer, Abera was brilliantly denied by goalkeeper Ruth Aturo close range following a cross by Bizuayehu Tadesse Aymeku.

The game headed for extra time and the Ethiopians won it courtesy of Aregash Kalsa Tadesse’s who struck the winner in the 95th minute.

Kenyan striker Topister Situma gave Buja an early lead in the 11th minute but the Tanzanians fought back in the second half through goals from usual suspects Donisia Minja, Stumai Abdallah and Winifrida Gerald.

This will be the second time CBE will be playing in the final after the 2021 edition when they lost 2-1 to Vihiga Queens.

The final will be played on Wednesday 30th August at Njeru with the eventual winning team automatically qualifying for the final tournament in Ivory Coast in November.
