CECAFA U20: Five missing Eritrean players found in Ggaba

The five Eritrean players who disappeared from the CECAFA U20 Women’s Championship in Njeru have been found in Ggaba – Kampala, Swift Sports has learnt.

The five whose names have not been revealed yet, went missing from their team’s hotel in Jinja on Tuesday this week.

CECAFA confirmed their search and this website has established that the players were found in Ggaba, Kampala.

While there has not been official communication, It is understood that the players had trimmed off their hair in order to change their appearance in the general public.

However, it is not known yet whether they will be joining their teammates for the next and final two games. 

Eritrea will be facing Djibouti today at 1:30pm before ending their campaign on Monday with a duel against Burundi.

Their team has lost all the three games against Ethiopia (6-0), Tanzania (1-0) and 2-0 to Uganda.

This is not the first time Eritrean players have gone missing during the CECAFA organized tournament with the most recent scenario coming in 2019 during the U20 Men’s Championship at Njeru.
