Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sierra Leonean Football Association has extended financial help of 656 millions Leones (about US$67,500) to the football clubs in the country.
The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Isha Johansen confirmed that the six hundred and fifty-six million Leones (Le 656,000,000) has been donated to the clubs in the Premier League, the First and Second division.

Four hundred and six million Leones (about US$42,000) will be distributed to the 14 top-flight clubs while Two hundred and Fifty Million Leones (US$25,500) will go to the respective lower division clubs.
On top of the financial assistance, the clubs together with the federation staff received face masks as a prevention measure from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of April 5th, Sierra Leone has registered only two cases of coronavirus in the country.

Two weeks ago, The Sierra Leone Football Association officially suspended all footballing activities until further notice in line with the government’s directives to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
Over one million coronavirus cases have been registered world wide while 6500 people have been confirmed dead.
The African continent has registered over 8700 cases and 300 deaths.
