Uganda’s Crested Cranes came from a goal down to defeat rivals Tanzania 3-1 in an international friendly played at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The game served as Uganda’s precursor ahead of the Olympic Qualifier against Rwanda’s She Amavubi next week.
Debutant Catherine Nagadya together with Fauzia Najjemba and Marget Kunihira scored the three goals for Uganda.
Tanzania got an early lead through Besiktas prolific striker Opa Clement Tukumbuke in the second minute following a sloppy defending.

The Crested Cranes dominated proceedings and made amends in the 30th minute when Nagadya got the deserving equalizer.
Najjemba orchestrated the attack with a brilliant run down the left wing and set up Nagadya who made best of her the wonderful spadework with a tap in from close range.
The second half saw Uganda search for the winning goal but had to wait until the 85th minute to take the lead.

Tanzania’s teenage goalkeeper Husna Mtunda failed to deal with Samalie Nakacwa’s long ball and gave Najjemba an opportunity to tap home the ball from close range.
A minute later, Kunihira who had replaced Hasifah Nassuna, scored the third goal with a teasing intended cross from the right wing that found its way into the net past Mtunda trying gloves.
This was Ayub Khalifa’s first game as the interim coach of the senior women’s team.
Uganda will host Rwanda in Kigali on Wednesday 12th in the first leg of the Olympic Qualifiers before facing off in the second leg four days later.
