Allan Kyambadde’s El Gouna FC have been officially relegated from the Egyptian Premier League to the second tier as the league climaxed on Tuesday night.

Despite beating Pyramids 3-1 on the final day, El Gouna were unfortunate to succumb to relegation on goal difference after finishing 16th on the table of 18 teams.

They had a (-13) goal difference compared to Ghazal El Mahallah who finished 15th with the same number of points 36 but with a slightly superior goal difference of (-11).

Kyambadde has been in action in the past seven games but has been a mainstay in the club’s regular selection since 2019 when he left KCCA FC.

He has previously been deployed as a right back, a left back, a central midfielder, a winger as well as a forward raking over 64 games for the Gounies

Zamalek won the league title for the 14th time while Pyramid FC finished second with 71 points.

Record holders Al Ahly finished third and it was the first time they finished outside the top two since 1992.

Misr El Makkasa and Eastern Company are other teams that were relegated alongside El Gouna.
