Express FC defender joins Kenya’s Sofapaka

Versatile defender Derrick Ngoobi has joined Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka FC, Swift Sports has learnt.

Ngoobi traveled to Kenya early this week before signing an employmet contract of two years the Nairobi based side.

He had his first training session with Sofapaka on Wednesday morning.

As earlier reported by this website, Ngoobi’s departure from Express was imminent after his initial two year contract expired in the course of the current season.

Ngoobi is a versatile defender who can ably play as a center back and as a right back. He has previously featured as a left back early this season.

He joined Express in 2022 from Soltilo Bright Stars but also previously featured for Kikyusa Cream and Luweero United as well as Bulemeezi Ssaza Team.

His transfer comes in the eleventh hour as the Kenya mid-season transfer window will officially close on Thursday 8th February which is tomorrow.

Sofapaka commonly known as Batoto Ba Mungu (Children of God) are one time winners of the Kenya Premier League having triumphed in 2009.

The Batoto Ba Mungu are currently 14th on the KPL table with 23 points from 20 games played. They will face Talanta FC on Saturday 10th February.
