Express, KCCA share spoils in four goal thriller

David GOMBE

Second half substitute Joseph Akandwanaho earned Express FC a point in a 2-2 stalemate with KCCA FC at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Martin Kizza gave the home side the lead before Julius Poloto levelled matters for the visitors from the spot in the first period.

Early in the second half, Sadat Anaku gave KCCA FC the lead and were on course of maximizing points.

The stalemate dents KCCA FC’s title hopes and now three points below leaders Vipers SC.

Kizza flashed the Red Eagles into the lead with a well curled free kick to send the home fans into a frenzy.

With just two minutes to halftime breather, Express captain Enock Walusimbi was judged to have fouled Poloto into the forbidden area.

Referee William Oloya pointed to the spot and Poloto calmly restored parity for the visitors.

In the 56th minute, Anaku made it 2-1 for KCCA after a wonderful team buildup.

Akandwanaho who replaced Kizza with just 15 minutes to normal time levelled matters for the hosts benefiting from a Walusimbi long ball.

Eric Kambale nearly secured maximum points for Express but his effort hit the post in the closing stages of the contest.

The two sides had to settle for stalemate in the Kampala derby.

Express will next travel to Gaddafi FC on 8th March while KCCA welcome SC Villa at Lugogo on 12th March.
