Express, URA target first leg advantage as Ssimbwa seeks vengeance

Sam Ssimbwa will be aiming to end the Express hodoo when URA FC travel to Express FC for the first leg of the round of 16 Stanbic Uganda Cup contest at Muteesa II Stadium on Saturday.

This will be the third meeting between the two sides this campaign.
Express FC beat the tax collectors home and away in the Uganda Premier League, 1-0 and 3-1 at Arena of Visions and Muteesa II Stadium respectively.

The joint record Stanbic Uganda Cup champions overcame Kyetume FC 3-2 on aggregate in the round of 32 two legged tie whereas URA FC edged Mbarara City 1-0 on aggregate to secure a place in the last 16.

The Red Eagles come into this game after a 2-0 win over Onduparaka in the league contest while the tax collectors beat Mbarara City at the home with a similar score.

This will be the 24th meeting between the two sides with URA managing 10 wins, Express 4 and 10 games have ended in stalemates.

Wasswa Bbosa’s charges are unbeaten at home in 11 games in all competitions.

The Express FC tactician says that his side are focused and prepared for the mouthwatering game

“This will be the third time for us to meet and we respect our opponents, the two league wins we got over them were not simple and so this game won’t be easy. We just have to concentrate on scoring goals and emphasizing my players to be focused all though the game.”

Bbosa revealed to the club website.

The hosts will be without Arthur Kiggundu, Abel Eturude anda George Senkaaba. Defender Isaa Lumu is also out due to fever.

Steven Mukwala, Cromwel Rwothomio and Julius Mutyaba are unavailable on the visitors side after they failed to pass the late fitness tests.

After the Saturday’s contest the two sides will next face off on Tuesday, 4th May at Arena of Visions.
