1. Indomitable Kampala Queens go five points clear
Kampala Queens beat UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 to go five points clear thanks to a Margret Kunihira first half cool finish.
Kampala Queens have so far garnered 15 points from five games while Uganda Martyrs and UCU Lady Cardinals come second and third with 10 points each.
The Hamza Lutalo coached side has now gone 22 games unbeaten. Their last defeat came in last season’s opener against Kawempe Muslim at Kabojja.
2. Nandago shines brightest with her 1st ever league hat trick
Hadijah Nandago scored her first ever FUFA Women Super League hat trick as Kawempe Muslim beat Rines SS 4-1 on Saturday.
The teenage sensation was on target in the 12th, 48th and 62nd minute to become the second player to score a hat trick this season after Norah Alupo who also achieved the feat against Rines SS a fortnight ago.
Nandago, who has four goals to her name so far, is already flirting with early golden boot intentions.
” I’m glad to have scored a hat trick. It’s been a team effort though it’s me who scored those goals. I want to be among the contenders for this season’s golden boot. We want to win all our home games.”
Nandago said in the post match interview.
3. Staggering champions She Corporate finally get off the mark
She Corporate managed to bury their poor start as they beat Olila High School 2-0 in Soroti and subsequently registered their first win of the season after five games.
Joanita Ainembabazi and last season’s MVP Phionah Nabbumba scored the all important goals for the defending champions in the first and second half respectively.
They now sit 7th on the table with five points having previously managed two draws and lost the other two.
4. Rines SS woes continue with fifth straight defeat
Lowly placed Rines SS WFC suffered their fifth defeat in as many games. A 4-1 uninspiring defeat to Kawempe Muslim means Rines remain the only club yet to register victory this season.
They have only managed to score two goals (both by Aminah Nababi) and conceded a second league high of 15 goals in the process.
5. Norah Alupo takes early lead on the scoring chart
Lady Doves forward Norah Alupo is the current league leading scorer with five goals, four of which came against Rines SS two weeks ago.
Alupo was one of the three scorers as Lady Doves beat Asubo Gafford Ladies 3-0 in Masindi on Saturday.
UCU’s Ashiat Nalugwa, Hadijah Nandago (Kawempe Muslim), Resty Nanziri of Kampala Queens and Uganda Martyrs starlet Latifah Nakasi are the chasing pack with four goals each.
