Former Vipers coach lands new job in North Africa

Former Vipers SC tactician Miguel Duarte Da Costa has been appointed as the head coach for Libyan giants Al Ittihad.

Da Costa is expected to be unveiled officially to the media on Monday.

He replaces former Rayon Sports Belgian coach Ivan Minnaert who was relieved of his duties last year.

The Portuguese tactician is remembered for guiding Vipers SC to their third UPL title triumph in the 2017-18 season.

He led the Venoms to the final of the 2018 Stanbic Uganda Cup where they lost 1-0 to eventual winners KCCA FC.

Da Costa was in charge of Vipers SC during the 2018 CECAFA Kagame Cup where they lost to Kenyan giants Gor Mahia at the quarter finals stage.

He has been jobless after parting ways with Botswana giants Jwaneng Galaxy in February 2020 following a string of unconvincing results.

His new side Al Ittihad SC were founded in 1944 and host their league games at The 11 June Stadium in Tripoli City.
