Fortebet Real Stars Awards: February nominees announced


The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards have revealed the nominees for the month of February.

In Football, Vipers duo of Najib Yiga and Yunus Sentamu have been named among the nominees for the month following their excellent performances.

URA FC custodian Nathan Alionzi has also been nominated for his outstanding performances in the month.

Sentamu scored four goals in five games he played for Vipers during the month of February.

Jacob Kiplimo, Halima Nakaayi and Mercyline Chelangat are the nominees in the athletics categories.

Kiplimo won the Ras Al Khaimah Half marathon run in Dubai in a time of 57:56.

Nakaayi kickoff her 2022 campaign by winning the 800m in a time of 1:58.58 at the meeting de I’Eure if the World Athletics Indoor Tour (Silver Status) that was held at Stade Couvert Jesse Owens in France.

Chelangat also excelled at women’s national cross country in Tororo when she clocked 33:31 to cross the line beating 3000m Steeplechase Olympic Champion Peruth Chemutai. Chelangat also won the source of the Nile half marathon in a time of 1:11:52.

In Rugby, Heatherns pair of Innocent Gwokto and Joaquim Chisano and Nelson Mandela of RAMS have been named for the February gong.

Husina Kobugabe, Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi and Brian Kasirye are the Badminton nominees for the month.

Kobugabe helped Uganda finish second at the Thomas and Uber All Africa Badminton championship. She won 7 and managed to collect 339-197 points.

Fadilah played 8 games at the Thomas and Uber All Africa Badminton championship, winning 5 and helped Uganda reach the finals collecting 325-231 points.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, 1st March at route256 in Lugogo.
