FWSL: Kawempe Muslim get off the mark with 5-0 drubbing over Olila

Four time league winners Kawempe Muslim registered their first win of the season after thumping Olila High School 5-0 in a FUFA Women Super League encounter at the Valley grounds in Kawempe.

The win was much needed for the Ayub Khalifa coached side that lost their first game 2-0 to Lady Doves last week.

Youngsters Hadijah Nandago, Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, Agnes Nabukenya and Rebecca Nakato scored the five goals with Nakato grabbing a brace.

Nabukenya opened the scoring spree as early as the 12th minute when her hard shot from about 25 yards was clumsily dealt with by the Olila keeper Esther Akite before hitting the back of the net.

Four minutes later, Nabukenya turned provider with a deft cross that was tapped in perfectly by Nandago from close range.

Nabukenya took matters in her own hands and exquisitely set up Nakato who scored the third in the 35th minute.

Nyinagahirwa made it 4-0 when she received a long ball from her skipper Aisha Nantongo to beat Esther Akite with a low finish in the 52nd minute.

Nakato put the icing on the cake with a volley from about six yards and subsequently completed her double on the day.

Olila defender Gillian Akadinda attributed their crushing defeat to fatigue and a delay in traveling from Soroti.

” We traveled late from Soroti. It cost us because there was a lot of fatigue in the team. Some players couldn’t even run.” Akadinda said in the post match interview.

” We have a game on Sunday (against Asubo Gafford Ladies) and we hope to rectify a few mistakes the team made.” The former U17 national team right back added.

Kawempe Muslim will return to action on Sunday as they visit Makerere University at Makerere.

The league will continue on Saturday with three games. Uganda Martyrs High School visit table leaders Kampala Queens at Kabojja.

Defending champions She Corporate host UCU Lady Cardinals at MUBS Nakawa while Rines and Lady Doves lock horns at Wakisha.
