UCU Lady Cardinals and Lady Doves will play in this season’s FUFA Women Super League final after both sides registered 1-0 wins in their respective semi final duels.

Lady Doves were the first team to book a place in the final after overcoming Kawempe Muslim thanks to Reticia Nabbosa sublime effort.

Nabbosa’s long range strike past Juliet Adeke came at the stroke of half-time and proved to be the ultimate difference between the two sides.

Lady Doves were unfortunate to lose their star striker and leading scorer Fazila Ikwaput who was stretchered off with a knee injury sustained early in the game.

UCU defeated Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga in the second semi-final played at noon courtesy of Jauhara Nabaggala’s all important goal.

Nabaggala scored on a rebound after Daphine Nyayenga had initially saved Cissy Nakate’s effort in the 14th minute.

The two sides will face off in the climax of the tournament on Wednesday 5th where the eventual winner will represent Uganda in CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers for the inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

It will be a repeat of the 2018/19 final where UCU emerged victorious when both sides met at Lugogo thanks to goals from Moureen Kinavudori and Hasifa Nassuna.

The two sides were pitted in Group 2 of the current campaign. Lady Doves won the encounter 2-1 when they met last week with Ikwaput scoring twice after Nassuna had drawn first blood through a penalty kick.
