FWSL: UCU Lady Cardinals start campaign with hard-drilled win over She Corporates

UCU Lady Cardinals held on to overcome She Corporate with a 1-0 victory in their first game of the ongoing FUFA Women Super League at Njeru.

Defender Shadia Nankya scored the all important goal that condemned She Corporates to their first defeat of the campaign.

Nankya scored through a free kick which was not well dealt by goalkeeper Vanessa Edith Karungi as early as the 5th minute.

She Corporates were unfortunate not to level matters in the second period with Ronah Nantege the guilty party for failing to make use of two clear cut opportunities.

Nantege was subsequently replaced by Suzan Atim who also came close to levelling the matters but was denied by the woodwork in the 70th minute.

The result took UCU Lady Cardinals to second place on the table with three points. They tied on points with Lady Doves and She Corporates but separated by goal difference.

She Corporates will return to action against Lady Doves on Friday.

UCU will face Lady Doves in their next game to be played Wednesday.
