Uganda Women’s National Basketball team (Gazelles) bowed out of the 2023 Afrobasket after suffering defeat against hosts Rwanda.
Rwanda beat the Gazelles 66-61 in the Quarterfinal contest on Wednesday to cruise to the Semifinal of the competition.
Defeat ends the Gazelles Afrobasket journey but will be remembered for their shocking win over 11-time winners Senegal.
They also beat DR Congo to prevail to their first even Quarterfinal in the continental showpiece.

In the defeat against Rwanda, Jannon Otto scored 31 points, 13 rebounds and contributed to four assists.
Melissa Akullu also recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Ineza Sifa (19), Destiny Philoxy Promise (16) and Janai Crooms (15) inspired Rwanda to victory.

At the Semifinal stage, hosts Rwanda will face the winner between Nigeria and Mozambique with the loser facing Uganda in the classification game.
In the other Semifinal, Senegal who eliminated Cameroon will battle Mali who powered past Guinea.
