Gomba set to name Kyobe as new head coach

Record Buganda Masaza Cup winners Gomba are set to appoint Ibrahim Kyobe as their new head coach.

Kyobe will replace Felix Ssekabuza who left Gomba for 2021 and 2012 runners up Buwekula Ssaza team.

Last year, Ssekabuza led Gomba to their 10th Masaza Cup final before losing to Bulemeezi Ssaza team.

Kyobe will be returning to Gomba where he has previously served in the capacity of assistant coach in 2004, 2008, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Besides Gomba, Kyobe also worked as assistant coach at Buluuli in 2011, Buwekula (2012) and he was among Ibrahim Kirya’s assistants at Buddu (2022) and last year at Bulemeezi.

Gomba are seeking for a sixth Masaza Cup crown having won it in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2020.

The 2024 Masaza Cup tournament is scheduled to kickoff on 22nd June and run until October, 26th.
