Henock Inonga Baka scored the all important goal as Simba beat Vipers SC 1-0 in the group C contest at Kitende.

This was the first ever continental club match under floodlights in Uganda.

The Venoms have now gone six games without a goal across all competitions (540minutes) since Beto Bianchi took over.

It was however a perfect return for former Vipers head coach Roberto Oliveira alias Robertinho whose side registered their first points in the CAF Champions group this term.

This was the first meeting between the two in the competition. They had previously faced off at the 2011 CECAFA Club Quarterfinal in Tanzania with Simba SC prevailing 2-1 over Vipers SC (Bunamwaya).

Simba were under coached by Moses Basena by that time.

Defender Inonga gave the visitors the lead in 19th minute with a close ranger header.

Before Inonga’s goal, Yunus Sentamu had a decent chance to give the Venoms the lead with only the keeper to beat but the forward fired over the bar

Vipers skipper Milton Karisa also came close to levelling matters midway into the first period but his effort was well delt with by custodian Manula.

Simba held on to maximum points while Vipers stay with only a single point.
