Striker Ivan Ahimbibwe became the first player to record a hat trick in the 2022/23 season and ultimately guided UPDF FC to their maiden victory of season.
They had earlier on managed a draw against Express FC and also lost to BUL FC at Njeru.
Brian Senyondo’s men fell behind to an early Hassan Kintu goal that came in the 5th minute but striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe put the scoreline to level in the 22nd minute.
Six minutes later, Ahimbisibwe scored his second of the evening by putting the hosts in the lead for the first time and so it went into half time.

The former Nyamityobora striker completed his hat trick in the 53rd minute, giving UPDF in cruise control of the game and on course for their maiden victory of the season.
They were however pegged back by a red card shown to Donato Okello who had earlier on in the first period been booked.
Former Maroons striker Laban Tibita ensured that Busoga make their numerical advantage count by making it 3-2 with his second goal of the campaign.

Busoga couldn’t complete their comeback and UPDF hung on to register their maiden 3 points and move up the log .
Busoga will next host winless URA at Kakindu on October 18th, whereas UPDF will visit Asaph Mwebaze’s desperate Soltilo Bright Stars at Kavumba on October 19th.
In the other Uganda premier league fixture of the day, Onduparaka has held Gaddafi at Kakindu to a goalless stalemate.
