Uganda Cranes coach Jonathan McKinstry has likened Jayden Onen’s playing style to that of Borussia Dortmund’s ace Jadon Sancho.

McKinstry named 19 year old Onen who plays for Brentford B, in his 20-man foreign based squad for the double header against South Sudan.

” He is someone who has a lot of potential. He is an attacking midfielder, can play either in the center, on the right or on the left. If you are to compare his style, it would be maybe similar to that of Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund. I am not saying they are the same players but in terms of style. That’s the type of style you can expect from Jayden.”

McKinstry said in a brief description of the youthful midfielder.

” He is a young player, 18 years old, his father is a Ugandan and the mother is from the United Kingdom. He grew up at Arsenal so he played for the Academy of Arsenal until the age of 16, 17 then he transferred. He is now at Brentford.”

McKinstry believes the youngster is a player for the future.

” He is a very fast player as well but we believe he can contribute now but also believe he is a player just like Elvis (Bwomono) for the next 10 years will be playing at the top level. We feel it’s important we get him in the squad.”

Onen together with Elvis Okello Bwomono and striker Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru are the three new faces named in McKinstry’s squad.

He was born on February 11th 2001 and has previously featured for Arsenal Youth, Bright and Hove Albion Youth and Bromley on loan.
