Uganda Premier league champions Vipers SC have named forward Milton Karisa as their new captain.
He replaces defender Halid Lwaliwa who is set to join Macedonian side FK Bregalnica.
Lwaliwa has been Vipers skipper since 2019 when he took over from Nicholas Wadada.
“The gaffer insinuated that he was going to trust me with the role and it’s an absolute privilege to be handed the armband full time.”
“I did it on a few occasions during Pre-Season when Lwaliwa, was out, but as I said, it’s a real privilege to be the club’s captain.”
“With the group we have, looking after things on and off the pitch is going to be easier because the dressing room runs itself with the experience and leadership in there. We have a number of experienced players that can learn on for help and who have been captains at other clubs. So, that will also make it an easier job for me.” Karisa told Vipers media
Midfielder Siraje Sentamu is the immediate vice captain while Ashraf Mandela is the other deputy.
Vipers SC travelled to Congo Brazzaville for their CAF Champions league Preliminary round contest against Central Africa Republic Olympic Real De Bangui.
