KCB Bank injects Shs70m in 2022 Pearl of Africa Rally

The organizing committe of the 2022 Shell V-Power Africa Rally has received a financial boost from KCB Bank.

KCB Bank has injected Shs70m in the Rally scheduled for 6th-8th May.

The main rally will be held in Lugazi (SCOUL) sugar estate and Kasaku Tea plantations.

KCB Bank officially handed over the sponsorship package at the Haandi Restaurant in Kampala on Thursday, 21st April at the event that was attended by the Federation of Motorsport Uganda President Dipu Ruparelia.

“We are happy to see KCB Bank return to the sport. They return at a time where more vehicles have joined us. The sport is growing so fast in the country. We are proud to have KCB Bank on board. We have adapted a strong safety theme. We have a dedicated team at FMU which will reward the trust and confidence.” Said Ruparelia

Diana Komukama Ssempebwa, head of marketing and communication at the bank handed over the sponsorship package and which she believes will boost the event

“We are proud to announce a package of Shs 70,000,000 cash contribution towards the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally. We believe it will add more blood and energy to the event. I thank the management of FMU for their effort reorganize the body in Uganda amid the challenges.” Stated Ssempebwa

She added,

“The sports sector in Uganda and world over has evolved presenting employment opportunities for a number of individuals who are directly or indirectly involved in the ecosystem thus, it is key that the industry continues to receive the requisite support both financial and in-kind from entities like KCB Bank Uganda among other partners who are involved so that growth is constantly witnessed.”

The deal cements the Bank’s footprint in supporting sports which cuts across various disciplines motorsports, golf, athletics, chess, rugby, volleyball, and football.

The bank is keen on further deepening its contribution towards sports in the East African region, as a way of supporting communities and building a critical mass of sporting talents.

KCB Bank joins the main sponsors Shell V-Power who contributed a handsome Shs 250,000,000.

Fire and Safety Appliances Limited, East African Chain Uganda Limited (offered industrial equipment that may be needed by rally organizers in the safe running of the three-day rally) and Kampala Nile Resort Hotel, Namanve are the other partners.

Meanwhile, entries will officially close on Saturday, 23rd.
