KCCA drop crucial points against Mbarara in title race

KCCA FC dropped two points as they were held by Mbarara City on Sunday in a 1-1 stalemate at Kakyeka Stadium.

Usama Arafat gave the visitors an early lead in the opening three minutes of the game but Mbarara City restored parity five minutes after the recess through Jude Ssemugabi.

Second half substitute Yasser Mugerwa had his effort saved by Ankole Lions custodian Martin Elungat.

Pistis Barenge almost sealed maximum points for the home side but his effort hit the upright in the final minute of the contest.

Following a stalemate, KCCA are now three points adrift of leaders Vipers SC, they stay second with 36 points. Morley Byekwaso’s side will next host Onduparaka on Saturday, 19th February.

Mbarara City are now winless in seven league games with their last victory coming against Onduparaka in December last year.

Sadick Sempigi’s side are now on 16 points and are in 13th position. They will next travel to Gaddafi FC on Sunday.
