KCCA FC Stadium second phase Redevelopment was commissioned by KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, Minister for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang and Hon. Hakim Kizza who represented the Lord Mayor for Kampala on Friday in Lugogo.

KCCA FC chairman Andrew Sserunjogi Mukiibi revealed that the second phase to cost Shs10 billion.

“The second phase of the redevelopment will cost Shs10Bn that is what our contractors of Sarjan Construction limited requested and that was the lowest. We decided to continue with them since they were the one who constructed the first phase.

The first phase covered the primary stand and it cost Shs4.9bn.

The Minister for Sport, Ogwang hailed KCCA FC for the development

“I am grateful that KCCA FC are heading into the second phase of the construction of the Stadium. We are happy that the second phase is coming in when we have activities planned coming in during the course of the year such as the CHAN tournament in September.” Said Ogwang

The second phase is projected to run for a minimum of eight months.

It will involve building two more floors and thereafter roof it. It will also have a sitting capacity of 7000 people but the entire stadium will have 11000 capacity once completed, will house dressing rooms, referees, VAR, offices among others.

In 2020, KCCA embarked on the construction of the Phillip Omondi stadium. However, construction has most often stagnated due to lack of funds and other technical issues.

The stadium is one of the facilities proposed to be used as a training ground for AFCON 2027 tournament that Uganda will host along Kenya and Tanzania.
