Kenya and Zimbabwe have been officially booted out of the upcoming 2023 AFCON Qualifiers that are set to start next month.
The elimination of the two sides comes after both failed to have their suspension from FIFA overturned.
“CAF has confirmed that both Kenya and Zimbabwe will not participate in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire 2023 Qualifiers.”

Both Kenya and Zimbabwe were suspended for political interference but were initially included in the AFCON Qualifiers draws held in April.
They were included in the draws on condition they meet the criteria required by the FIFA Congress as a prerequisite for lifting their suspension two weeks before their first match day which they didn’t.
Kenya was supposed to face off of with Cameroon, Burundi and Namibia in Group C
Zimbabwe was initially pitted in Group K alongside Morocco, South Africa and Liberia.
The ruling means both Groups C and K will be comprised of only three teams and therefore, the first and runner up teams of both groups will qualify to the final tournament.
