Koukouras to name Kirya as his assistant at Kiyovu

Former SC Villa head coach Ibrahim Kirya set to be appointed as Petros Koukouras’ assistant coach at Rwanda Premier league side Kiyovu Sports Club.

Swift Sports Uganda understands that Kirya has already agreed terms with the Rwanda based side.

During the concluded season, Kirya has been serving as Jackson Magera’s assistant.

Kirya has previously served as head coach at URA FC, SC Villa, Lweza FC and Wakiso Giants.

He has also served as head coach at Gomba Lions Ssaza team and won the 2020 edition with the side after beating Buddu 3-1 in the final at the St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

During the 2022 Masaza Cup edition he led Buddu to the final and has been appointed as Busiro head coach for this campaign.

Koukouras on the other hand joined Kiyovu SC after just a year, ever since leaving Uganda premier League side SC Villa.

He was at Villa throughout the 2021/22 season before mutually parting ways with the 16 time Uganda Premier league champions.

At Kiyovu, Koukouras replaced Alain Andre Landert, who recently resigned from his role as head coach.

The club also let go some players including Ugandan born forward Erisa Ssekisambu.

Kiyovu finished second level on points with champions APR (63) on the Rwanda Premier league table in the just concluded season.
