Luwero United and Ndejje University face off in Stanbic Uganda cup


Two big league sides Luweero United and Ndejje University face off this evening in the round of 32 of the 48th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Kosovo grounds in the Luweero derby.

Luweero United progressed to the round of 32 after a 2-1 victory against North Eastern Regional League side Basere FC.

Ndejje University also eliminated SC Tawai 2-1 to progress to this round.

In the absence of Calvin Mugerwa who is currently in a coaching training course, his assistant Patrick Musoni will be in Luweero United’s dug out.

Goalkeeper Farouk Yawe who is also Luweero United’s team captain believes they have all it takes to emerge victorious.

“We have fully trained and prepared for this tie and I believe we have what it takes to emerge victorious at the end of the day.”

“The squad is injury free and we shall fight harder for victory.”

Yawe added

In their last meeting, they played to a goalless stalemate.

Luweero United has almost a full squad, only missing out Hamis Deigo who was granted a compassionate leave after losing a relative.

UPDF FC and Vipers SC became the first teams to make it to the the round of 16 after edging Regional League sides Impalla Hill SC and Kigezi HomeBoyz FC respectively.
