Mbarara City dispatch Lugazi to register 2nd win of the season

Sinan RAJUB SENOGA

Mbarara City defeated Lugazi FC 3-1 at Kakyeka Stadium to bounce back to winning ways.

Ibrahim Tembo and forwards Henry Kitegenyi and Seiri Arigumaho scored the three goals for the Sadick Sempigi coached side.

The Ankole Lions came into the contest after playing to a disappointing goalless draw against Jinja North in their previous fixture.

Tembo opened the scores as early as the 5th minute with a long range strike from a free kick.

Arigumaho made it 2-0 with a customary finish from within the box to ensure a comfortable halftime lead. The strike was his first for the new season.

Moments into the second half, Sempigi introduced former Bright Stars duo of Methodius Jungu and Jamir Nvule Kisitu for Arigumaho and Edwok Ronald to add more firepower.

Nvule was brought down by the keeper Nswemu Farouk in the 90th minute and a penalty was awarded.

Kitegenyi stepped up and flawlessly converted to make it 3-0 for Mbarara City and three goals for himself so far this term.

Lugazi managed to pull one back through striker Ogweti Gerald who converted from the spot shortly after Kitegenyi’s goal.

Mbarara have so far garnered seven points, two behind leaders NEC FC whom they will be facing in their next game on Thursday 3rd November at Bugolobi.

Lugazi will hope for redemption when they host Kitara FC in their next game on the same day.
