It will be Uganda’s sixth time at the biannual tournament which is a preserve for players plying their trade in local leagues.

The Cranes have however not gone past the group stages despite being one of the nations with the highest number of appearances.

Last evening, a draw was made and Uganda were put in a group that has two time winners DR Congo and 2016 bronze winners Ivory coast.

Senegal completes the group that has four teams.

Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic who will be guiding Uganda to the tournament for the second time believes the Cranes are good enough to go past the group stages.

“It is a tricky group with two time winners DR Congo, Senegal and Ivory coast but we are lucky to be in a group of four teams”

Group D and E have only three teams and only the winners will be considered.

“We have the right players and with FUFA’s commitment to good preparation, we shall get out of our group this time”.

“The teams in our group are big footballing nations like ours”

CHAN 2023 will be hosted by Algeria starting January 13 to February 4th.
