Motocross: Armed Forces Appreciation challenge returns after two years’ break

The second edition of the Armed Forces Appreciation Challenge has officially been launched at the Kololo Airstrip Grounds on Wednesday morning.

The event was previously held in 2019 but was halted in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 turmoil. This year it will be held on 27th November at Busiika Race track with over 100 riders from Africa, Europe and USA expected to take part.

The event was graced by General Leopold Eric Kyanda who represented the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Wilson Mbadi as the chief guest. Chairman Toyota Kaguta was also in attendance

Kyanda stated that the army shall continue to give support to motorsport and sports in general

“We shall continue to support motorsport and sports in general. I take this opportunity to thank the military for staging up exciting and amazing sports events.” In the previous event, the outstanding performers were rewarded with a sizeable token which was real.” Said Kyanda.

Barak Orland, the main organizer expects an exciting event which will be better than the previous one

“We expect to have an exciting event which will attract various riders. So I urge all Ugandans to come and witness as well as supporting the armed officers.” Stated Barak

The Federation of Motorsport Clubs was represented by Joseph Mwangala (Vice president, Uganda Motocross club) and Reynold Kibira.

Riders such as Omar Ali Waziri and Maxim Van Pee were also present at the official launch.

The event is proudly sponsored by Extreme Adventure Park, Mountain Dew, Stanbic Bank (Felix Pay), Next Media Services, Vision Group, Radio Simba, Stabex International, Dott Services Limited, Bar Aviation, Yamasaki and others.
