Mugume nets brace as KCCA beat Wakiso in five goal thriller at Lugogo

KCCA FC opened their Uganda Premier league campaign with a 3-2 victory over Wakiso Giants on Saturday at the Philip Omondi Stadium.

Substitute Ashraf Mugume scored a brace with Geoffrey Wasswa scoring the other goal as Morley Byekwaso’s side maximized points at Lugogo.

Wakiso’s goals came from Owen Kasule and a late penalty from Tom Kasolo.

All the five goals in the contest were scored in the second period of the game after a goalless first half.

Byekwaso earned Allan Okello, Muhammad Shaban and Moses Waiswa their debuts.

Waiswa provided Mugume for the first goal in the 51st minute before Wasswa doubled the hosts lead in the 66th minute for his first goal in the KCCA colours.

Kasule netted a consolation for the Purple Sharks off a Moses Aliro assist.

With six minutes to normal time, Mugume competed his brace with a sensational strike from outside the box to send the yellow and blue faithfuls into delight.

Defender John Revita fouled in the forbidden area in the 88th minute. Former KCCA FC player Masiko was entrusted with the responsibility and calmly made it 3-2.

By fulltime whistle, KCCA smiled to maximum points and will next face Arua Hill on Friday, 7th October in their next game.

Wakiso on the other hand will travel to Maroons on 11th October in their next game.
