Nassuna takes up mother’s shirt number as Kampala Queens unveil star studded squad

Kampala Queens have become the fourth FUFA Women Super League club to reveal squad numbers for the new 2022/23 season.

The 24 player squad consists of nine new signings notably Hasifah Nassuna who was signed from UCU Lady Cardinals.

Nassuna will wear number 8 while she awaits for her debut having missed the first two games.

It should be noted that Nassuna’s mother Annet Nakimbugwe previously played for Kampala Queens and also worn shirt number 8 until she retired from competitive football about three years ago.

The Crested Cranes forward continues to follow foot steps of her mother having recently played for the Crested Cranes to the Africa Womens Cup of Nations tournament in June.

Nakimbugwe also played for the national team and represented Uganda in the 2000 AWCON tournament in South Africa and scored one goal in the process.

The other signings include the two goalkeepers Daisy Nakaziro and Gloria Zaza Namakula who took up number 21 and number 1 respectively.

The 2021/22 season runners up are currently top of the league table with six points after two games.

They are expected to return to action on Sunday 2nd October when they visit Makerere University at Makerere.
